Bell’s Inequality Violations: Relation with De Finetti’s Coherence Principle and Inferential Analysis of Experimental Data

چکیده
It is often believed that de Finetti’s coherence principle naturally leads, in the finite case, to the Kolmogorov’s probability theory of random phenomena, which then implies Bell’s inequality. Thus, not only a violation of Bell’s inequality looks paradoxical in the Kolmogorovian framework, but it should violate also de Finetti’s coherence principle. Firstly, we show that this is not the case: the typical theoretical violations of Bell’s inequality in quantum physics are in agreement with de Finetti’s coherence principle. Secondly, we look for statistical evidence of such violations: we consider the experimental data of measurements of polarization of photons, performed to verify empirically violations of Bell’s inequality, and, on the basis of the estimated violation, we test the null hypothesis of Kolmogorovianity for the observed phenomenon. By standard inferential techniques we compute the pvalue for the test and get a clear strong conclusion against the Kolmogorovian hypothesis.

On the mathematical error of Aspect/Bell, and its resolution
Long claimed violations of Bell’s inequality by the predictions of quantum mechanics are found to arise from the neglect of symmetric functional relations among the products of paired photon polarization observations. Bruno de Finetti’s fundamental theorem of probability is used to derive a 4-dimensional coherent space of expectations that quantum theory actually supports and which respect the ...
متن کاملViolation of Bell’s inequality using classical measurements and non-linear local operations
We find that Bell’s inequality can be significantly violated (up to Tsirelson’s bound) with twomode entangled coherent states using only homodyne measurements. This requires Kerr nonlinear interactions for local operations on the entangled coherent states. Our example is a demonstration of Bell-inequality violations using classical measurements. We conclude that entangled coherent states with c...
متن کاملThe world According to de Finetti : On de Finetti ’ s Theory of Probability and its Application to Quantum Mechanics
Bruno de Finetti is one of the founding fathers of the subjectivist school of probability, where probabilities are interpreted as rational degrees of belief. His work on the relation between the theorems of probability and rationality is among the corner stones of modern subjective probability theory. De Finetti maintained that rationality requires that degrees of belief be coherent, and he arg...
متن کاملQuantum nonlocality or nonergodicity? A critical study of Bell’s arguments
We pay attention that through Bell’s arguments one can not distinguish quantum nonlocality and nonergodicity. Therefore experimental violations of Bell’s inequality can be as well interpreted as supporting the hypothesis that stochastic processes induced by quantum measurements could be nonergodic.
متن کاملA Physics - based Disproof of Bell ' s Theorem
After decades of experimental validation, Bell’s Theorem has changed the ontological status of local realism in physics. But recent theoretical and experimental results present a new challenge to Bell’s analysis. A geometricalgebraic challenge claims that Bell makes a topological mistake, while ‘weak measurement’ results challenge the Copenhagen Interpretation. We review these results and analy...
